Against the backdrop of the ongoing college entrance examination reform, how can pathways for cultivating top-tier innovative talents be established? On March 21, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) took a proactive step by hosting a in-depth "Forum for Key High School Headmasters." Nearly 120 principals and teachers from 73 high schools across the country gathered at GTIIT to engage in discussions on talent selection and cultivation under the new examination framework, the connection between higher education and secondary education, and career education practices. Through meaningful dialogue, they built consensus and collaborated on nurturing future talents.

In his opening address, Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, extended a warm welcome to the attendees. He noted that as a Sino-foreign cooperative university specializing in science and engineering, GTIIT is highly aligned with the contemporary demands of innovation-driven development and the cultivation of new quality productive forces. The university prioritizes foundational disciplines, question-driven learning, research, and innovation, delivering a modest yet brilliant record in talent cultivation. He hopes to deepen collaboration with more high schools in curriculum alignment and resource sharing, jointly supporting students' futures.

Deng Biao, CEO of TD Tech, shared insights on talent demands in the communications industry. He emphasized that foundational theories are the roots of technology, and modern technology is built on mathematics, physics, and chemistry. He argued that new-era talent must achieve innovation based on a solid academic foundation. As a GTIIT parent, he appreciates the university's emphasis on foundational disciplines and believes GTIIT will cultivate more high-quality talent for the nation.

During a panel discussion, participants engaged in a "brainstorming" on selecting and cultivating top science and engineering talent. Several principals noted that talent development requires "early identification"—discovering innovative potential through diverse evaluation systems—and "slow cultivation"—giving students time and space to explore while patiently waiting for their potential to blossom. The lively discussion provided new ideas for collaboration between universities and high schools.

During a break, attendees toured GTIIT's laboratories and strolled through the spring campus, experiencing the university's innovative vitality and humanistic atmosphere. One principal remarked that the visit was "truly worthwhile." After speaking with students from her school now studying at GTIIT, she found them confident, passionate, and professionally solid, noting that GTIIT's education had truly enabled them to achieve a "corner overtaking" in their development.

Taking this seminar as a starting point, GTIIT looks forward to walking alongside more high schools to jointly create a new blueprint for high-quality education development.
