The GTIIT Changzhou Innovation Institute (GCII) is now officially launching the third batch of funding applications.
GCII is a new type of R&D institution jointly established by our university and the China Israel Changzhou Innovation Park (CICP). GCII has set up seed funds and start-up funds in the field of applied research to support applied research projects with industrialization and commercialization prospects. To date, it has successfully completed two batches of funding nearly 10 million RMB in total.
Fund Positioning
GCII Research Fund serves as the core talent and project introduction mechanism of the GCII, focusing on supporting early-stage research projects in applied technology fields, providing support for technology verification, industry integration, and incubation preparation. Startup projects encourage projects with good maturity, a certain team foundation, and market demand to be registered as startups, providing support for pilot-scale amplification, product prototyping, and small-batch production and sales.
Funding Standards
Funding Amount: For seed funding, GCII provides 300k RMB/year. For startup funding, GCII provides over 1 million RMB for each project.
Implementation Period: In principle, one year.
Eligible Applicants
Research staffs of GTIIT, as well as current graduating students and alumni of GTIIT or Technion. Priority will be given to PI at GTIIT.
Timeline
The official application notice is expected to be released via GTIIT email in March 2026.
Project Achievements
This fund has successfully operated for two rounds, with related research covering topics in new energy, big health, intelligent manufacturing, synthetic biology, and other fields. During the incubation period, it has contributed to the following outputs:
1.7 high-quality patents;
2. 34 high-level papers, including those in Nature Communications and Science Advances;
3. 3 startups incubated and registered;
4. Multiple projects have engaged in industry connection and product design, with some entering the pilot testing stage and others securing market orders.
The complete closed loop of the first batch of projects validates the feasibility of this fund’s “application-oriented, industry-driven, and small-scale launch” model.

GCII Introduction
Relying on the scientific and educational resources of the Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and the industrial advantages of Changzhou, GCII focuses on cutting-edge research fields such as new energy, big health, intelligent manufacturing, and synthetic biology, and is committed to promoting the incubation and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, international talent cultivation, and China-Israel cultural exchange and cooperation. In July 2024, Professor Uri Sivan, President of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Technion), visited the institute, inspected the construction progress, and unveiled the plaque together with municipal leaders, inscribing the words "Two ancient cultures meet, the possibilities are endless.Two rapidly changing cultures that give birth to groundbreaking innovation." expressing their high expectations for the future cooperation between the two parties.
